olympics gig || vancouver photographer

three days before school was let out for christmas break, a friend of mine working with her event planning company, limelight events, called and asked if i could help her come up with a quick shoot for the olympic truce.

so we literally threw the shoot together - kids + origami seedlings. unfortunately after all the whirling around and work we did for it in such a short time VANOC decided to go a different direction...we still had a blast..and the kids were great!

so here's what we got...kids + peace + ethnicity+ the world = fun!

my friend referred her inlaws inlaws family to get portraits done with me...word of mouth is always the best advertising, no? :)

out past chestermere to their acreage was our location and it was late in the day..yay! my fave time of day to shoot.. there was mom and dad and the 4 kiddos..the oldest girl, a boy then a set of twins, boy and girl. they were so cute!! and so much energy!! i knew my shutter would be on continuous shutter the whole time!

we got to know each other with a few photos on the couch, and then when the light was juuuuuuuust right, we headed outside.

these have got to be some of my favorite family photos.. so many personalities, so many faces, so many smiles, so many stories to tell.

thanks C family for letting me come out to your acreage and have a hoot! it was really fun! :)

well, rebecca contacted with the news that their little baby girl had arrived! i couldn't wait!!

last week i headed down to yaletown..it was a warm day, i recall! but not as warm as the love that was oozing in their home. :)

clements clan - family session || vancouver photographer

some of our very dearest friends who we, as a couple, have known the longest, came thru vancouver this summer and i was around!! [2 years ago i was in whistler shooting a wedding - boo that i missed them!]

colin & arlene are so great - and they have 4 amazing kids!! their oldest brock, i used to nanny when he was just 6 months old.. yep.. and now he's like 15 or 16.. crazy!!!

i told them i wanted to sneak them away for an hour and shoot some family pics..casual ones. [arlene was stressed cuz they weren't prepared for family pix!] and they were a lot of fun!

and now i have a current photo of your family guys!! ;)

iolla's 70th birthday & family portraits || vancouver photographer

when my dear italian neighbour, iolla, aka "nona" asked me if i would be available to shoot some photos of her for her 70th birthday and both her children's families, i was MORE than thrilled!

not simply because i love shooting families but because this family in particular are a little more dear to my heart than the regular family sessions. iolla's daughter and her hubby and kids live next door as well, and their kids and our kids are bestest buds. as in our door is open to them..always. and their youngest, fondly know as "the noob" is in LOVE with rosie, so big sister O says. rosie's name is said and "the noob" is totally enamored!! it's really cute.

so yes...the family next door's family session was lovely..the kids were awesome and cute and funny..the adults gave me some fairly decent smiles (wink wink!) and iolla's 70th birthday photos were taken. even a 3 generation one as well.. very sweet.

i had the pleasure of photographing the clan..madison and malachi are HILARIOUS.

thanks for being patient in "running after the clear skies" that led to okotoks..and thanks also for enduring the recycling plant's "smells"...REALLY i dont take my clients to places like that!! :)

so yesterday we did the shoot..4 little girls..frills, candy, and teacups. sooooo fun!
